"What has happened to Indielink?"
It has been two years since we launched Indielink and I must say that we have all be blown away! Starting up with nothing more than the idea to help Indie artists in our spare time, J-Mac, Gary, Su, our entire staff & myself have seen the little site that could explode with members and listener-ship spanning the entire globe!!! Besides the art, videos, dialogues and amazing music we have developed some great friendships that have grown from this effort and for all of that we are truley grateful.
That said....the decision has been made to close down Indielink. The mounting costs and rising demands on our time have proved to be overwhelming, forcing us to make some hard choices. We will remain dedicated to continue our commitment to Indie artists and to what we believe is the future of music broadcasting..web radio but for now at a local level.
We are pleased to anounce the creation of webradiocanada.com launching October 29th 2010. This will make it easier for us to attend events, procure advertisers and befriend the music community at a personal level.
We wish to thank all of our members and supporters for the time they have put into promoting Indielink and more importantly themselves. Keep it up, believe in yourself and remember to help those that can help you.
Sincerely
Carl Luther
Indielink Administrator
"J-Mac's Message To You"
So as you all now know by Carl's note this is the end to Indielink so this will be my swan song so to speak. I used my recent time away to reflect on the relationships I have made in the past two years, of which there are far to many of you that I would love to mention in this my Indielink good-bye.An idea was the beginning and it was never for money, in fact the site even in closing continues to grow. We have deliberated long and hard as to what to do to our loved project Indielink.
I will still be playing all the members who see the good in having their music heard. New shows have been developed to include International specials and cruise controls so even in ending there is birth for all Indielink members.
Web Radio Canada will keep your music alive and tell your stories. There will also be a great push for local artists in our home city Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The idea here is to come as close to a traditional radio station as we can but do it all with indie music.
Carl and I have no question we can make this work, even better than the "Link" at any given time. Winnipeg is rich in music history and home to many great players..I urge you to continue the ride with us and watch as many new Web Radio Canadas pop up across our country.
I feel good knowing that we did what we said we would do and proud of all of you and us for proving you don't need millions to create something great. I wish you all the very best in the future and I hope you will all tune us in come October 29th 2010, the launch date for our new project. Keep doing what it is you do for without the music there is no show. Rock on my friends I will still be here for you.
J-mac.
