Hello again indielinkers, here is another word from j-mac. In this world as we all try to carve out a living and take our passions like music and or art to the limit there are those out there that shoot us down. I guess there will always be those people and sites that hammer what all of us do, including Indielink and indielink web radio, we are no different.
So I came across such a site, with their little web crawlers and I asked 2 indielink members to write what they truly felt. Those to members are John Maun and Cat Collins, here is what they had to say. Keep in mind I just asked for how they felt about indielink......no further prompting on my part.
This is a copy of my review at Alexa.com....
This is a GREAT Site for Indie Artists!!!
Indielink.org runs Indieweb Radio, a great litlle site that allows anyone, and I repeat anyone, to upload their music and be heard. Not heard once, but actually inserted into IndieWebs rotation in hosted shows. I first found out about this site last fall(2009), and have seen it growing since I first joined. The site is not designed so much for social interaction, as it seems to me to be geared towards exposing new artists to the world. Alexa, I am afraid that your tracking data is suspect. Being an ex computer guy as well as a musician, I investigated Indielink prior to my joing them and your data just does not match up with what I found. Indielink is based out of Winnipeg, Canada, yet Alexa says all it's audiuence is fromw the US(last fall you said China, then the US), no Canadian traffic. I suspect that your IP adddress's are out of date.
Someone once said, "there are lies, Damn lies, and Statistics!", I suggest you go back to the Logic Tree in your programming and check it over.
One more thing, in this day and age it's refreshing to have a place to go that is not constantly hitting you up fopr money.
John Maun
